The PLZW-R rapid is a screw-in lifting point that allows for quick and easy attachment with a click-and-go function.

The PLZW-R rapid is 360° rotatable, allowing for adjustment in the direction of the load; and the ring can be folded 180° for added versatility. The screw is made of rust-resistant stainless steel, while the sleeve protects the contact surface of the load. Each unit features an individual serial number for traceability.

Carlo Autischer, sales engineer at pewag, said: “Designed for maximum flexibility, the PLZW-R rapid stands out with its quick click-and-go function. With a simple push of a button, it locks or releases instantly — no tools, no hassle. Ideal for jobs where lifting points must be mounted and removed frequently; it saves time, boosts efficiency, and keeps operations moving safely and smoothly.”

pewag
The PLZW-R rapid is designed for versatility and safe use in multiple applications.

The PLZW-R rapid can be supplied with peTAG, the intelligent NFC solution for clear item identification, seamless data transfer, servicing of items, safe archiving of data, and efficient interaction with partner companies. With the peTAG manager, personal computer and mobile end devices work hand-in-hand with this adaptable, high-performance platform that stands out in any working environment and improves data quality at the same time. The requirement for additional, expensive reading devices and manual data transfer is eliminated.

A lifting point that sets new standards

pewag
The PLZW-R rapid lifting point offers tool-free assembly and disassembly.

The PLZW-R rapid lifting point operates reliably in temperatures from -4 °F to 392 °F (in special cases, even higher) without any reduction in performance. Benefits include time saving, thanks to the click-and-go function; tool-free assembly / disassembly; and additional options with the Product Identification Plug (PIP), which enables color marking. PIP — provided at no additional cost — gives users a way to apply their own internal color-coding system for inspection intervals, safe-zone identification, or operational categories. The use and choice of colors can be entirely determined by the customer’s own safety policy.

Each product is marked with product family name (PLZW), manufacturer, batch code, CE-mark, and serial number. The manufacturer’s name is also marked on the screw itself, as is batch code, thread size, and load capacity.

pewag’s Autischer added: “pewag winner pro lifting points set new standards for the lifting and moving of loads. Our innovative product range offers the highest standards when it comes to quality, safety, and user-friendliness. It is notable that all products are compatible with the popular pewag winner lifting chain program, simplifying field application at the point of use.”

Referencing the existing members of the winner pro points family, the PLZW-FIX-SP is a reliable swivel lifting point for ongoing lifting and lashing operations. The ‘SP’ in the product code highlights the integrated spring within the body, which enables the Stay-Up function of the enlarged shackle—preventing vibration, while facilitating positioning and rigging. The body of the PLZW Zeta, meanwhile, can be opened before installation, allowing it to be connected to other components, such as a master link for direct connection to a crane hook, or directly to a round sling or wire rope sling eye. This eliminates the need for extra intermediate components like shackles or hooks.

pewag
The PLZW-R rapid stands out with its quick click-and-go function.

The selection between the PLZW-R rapid, PLZW-FIX-SP, and PLZW Zeta hoist rings depends on duration of use, installation type, and connection flexibility. The PLZW-R rapid is best for temporary applications requiring quick attachment and removal. The PLZW-FIX-SP is ideal for repetitive lifts, tight spaces, vibration-prone machinery, and mobile equipment—where the Stay-Up shackle ensures faster, safer, and easier rigging. The PLZW Zeta offers the most flexibility, allowing direct integration with various lifting components, making it ideal for complex or adaptable lifting setups.

pewag is a manufacturer of industrial lifting chains and components; traction and protection chains for vehicles; security chains; and other products.

William Hackett secures H-Mark certification on new range https://industrialmachinerydigest.com/material-handling/hoist-rings/william-hackett-secures-h-mark-certification-on-new-range/ Mon, 02 Jun 2025 12:29:58 +0000 https://industrialmachinerydigest.com/?p=138352
  • H-Mark achieved for Hack8 and Hack10 chain sling components
  • Represents the gold standard of safety in the industry
  • Underlines William Hackett’s commitment to quality and safety
  • William Hackett, a trusted global supplier of safety-critical lifting, rigging and chain solutions, has secured H-mark certification for its latest chain sling components.

The company launched its own range of components last year. It submitted the Hack8 and Hack10 ranges to the prestigious Deutsche Gesetzliche Unfallversicherung (DGUV) for testing. DGUV Test, an internationally recognised third party testing and certification body, has awarded the H83 mark to a range of the grade 8 and grade 10 components.

“The H-Mark is the industry gold standard for quality,” said Rod Bell, Technical Director at William Hackett. “This hallmark for our Hack8 and Hack10 components demonstrates our commitment to produce the best possible components, reinforcing our reputation for safety across the lifting industry.”

DGUV Test undertakes comprehensive type testing to determine if each product complies with the relevant safety and health requirements. This includes verification of materials, dimensional information, tensile tests, fatigue tests and some component-specific testing. H-Mark accreditation also certifies that William Hackett’s processes and products offered are in full compliance with EN818 and EN1677 standards.

Hackett “H-Mark is a visible stamp of approval that lifting professionals can use these components with complete confidence”, added Rod.

This is the latest step in William Hackett’s ongoing commitment to industry safety. Earlier this year, the UK manufacturer introduced RFID chips to its popular Hack8 and Hack10 chain sling assembly tags. These digital records provide a more durable and reliable method of accessing documentation, helping to improve industry safety.

The Hack8 and Hack10 components awarded the H83 mark include master links and sub-assemblies, component connectors, clevis shackles and various clevis and eye hooks amongst them. William Hackett will start to emboss the H83 symbol on these products – however all current Hack8 and Hack10 products are also classed as compliant.

Jergens Inc. Adds New Hoist Rings for a Range of Die Flipping Applications https://industrialmachinerydigest.com/imd/jergens-inc-adds-new-hoist-rings-for-a-range-of-die-flipping-applications/ Wed, 05 Apr 2023 17:27:38 +0000 https://industrialmachinerydigest.com/?p=72267 Jergens combines key features of its SP2000™ and Shackle-Lok™ hoist rings for a new productive and secure solution to die flipping. Two versions are offered – standard and Lift-Check™ – to ensure worker safety and required clearance.
Die flipping is a standard process of rotating and inverting die plates for cleaning oils and metal chips as well as for routine maintenance. “That is no small task given that these plates can be very large in size and weigh (up to) thousands of pounds”, said Chris Spada, Jergens LSG and SFG Product Manager. First and foremost, when lifting anything of this nature is worker safety. To that end, Jergens manufactures its hoist rings to strict quality standards, proof tests each one to 200% of the load, and then certifies them.
Another matter of key importance is to maintain the structural integrity of the die plates. “One of the design drivers was to make sure users have (chain) clearance for things like die shoes and external plumbing that mount off the ends”, Spada continued. Ensuring zero contact is critical to maintaining the precision and functionality of the die. The side pull design has an offset neck and provides 360 degrees of swivel and 180 degrees of pivot to clear all die components.
“The additional clearance offered with the new design also helps customers in their die-flipping applications where lifting and rotating is restricted due to issues like limited available floor space. As a rule of thumb, for the greatest amount of clearance, lifting is best achieved when going from horizontal to vertical, then back to horizontal orientation”, added Spada.
Jergens die flipping hoist rings are available in both inch and metric dimensions as a standard or Lift-Check™ style that features a proprietary hex head bolt with Go / No-Go identification. The rings are CE Certified and constructed of alloy steel with a black oxide body and zinc plated (gold) shackle. All the rings are made in the USA, magnetic particle inspected, conform to ASME B30.26 and MIL-STD-209, and feature a 5:1 strength factor.

In 2020, family shareholders reached a decision to divest from their distribution business and concentrate on growing the company’s already strong position in the manufacturing market.

Schron reinforces that the family-owned company and its 400 employees remain committed to the collective mission of helping customers achieve leaner, more profitable manufacturing efficiency.

“Our shareholders remain committed to our corporate family and to our customers. We will continue to build this company on the values we demonstrate every day and will be there to support and serve our customers with the very best service,” Schron said.

    Actek Manufacturing https://industrialmachinerydigest.com/safety-maintenance/actek-manufacturing/ Sun, 15 Apr 2018 14:39:35 +0000 https://industrialmachinerydigest.com/?p=36476 Q: How would you describe your company’s primary business?
A: Actek’s primary business has always been delivering high quality hoist rings when our customers need it the most. This often means keeping a large amount of stock inventory and having the ability of making specials in an extremely short amount of time.

Q: In brief, what is the history of your company?
A: In 1989, Shu Lan Ma and Fred Pearl saw a need for a tooling component provider in Southern California and opened a small 1,000 square foot shop. It soon became apparent that customers needed a new source of hoist rings, so Actek began making there own line of Safety Engineered hoist rings within two years.

Q: How has Actek changed through the years?
A: Since that time, Actek has grown from 1,000 square feet to over 100,000 square feet and now manufactures over 20 different models of hoist rings. Actek also began manufacturing numerous drill bushings and tooling components. Our large inventory has allowed us to provide same day shipping on almost all of our hoist ring products. Our in-house manufacturing and rigorous inspection process has allowed us to maintain some of the highest quality in the industry.

Q: What have been some interesting applications of your products?
A: Actek hoist rings have been used to lift everything from wind turbines and oil rigs to Las Vegas acrobats and NASA space craft. It is always a lot of fun to hear and see all the creative things people lift with Actek hoist rings.

Q: What critical issues do your clients rarely know they have or might encounter?
A: Almost every customer plans for what they want to lift and what they want to lift it with. But many customers don’t think about how they are going to attach their lift until the last second. Planning for this early on can save them time and money by allowing them to go with a standard hoist ring rather than a special one.

Also, many customers don’t realize that most hoist rings can be pulled to their full load rating in any direction, however the load the hoist ring experiences may increase depending on the angle. For example, a hoist ring pulled straight up may experience 1,000 lbs of force in a given application. But pulling that same hoist ring at 45 degrees instead would cause it to experience 1,414 lbs. Our worldwide distributors are very knowledgeable about designing the right hoist ring package for a given lift, and our Customer Service team is always just a phone call or email away.

Q: What do you want to see in the future for the industry?
A: A lot of people are still misusing eyebolts. We get calls every day from companies who have dropped something or had OSHA warn them about an incorrect application. Safety should always be the priority in any workplace, and we at Actek are proud that we can help them lift more safely.
