Designed to deliver maximum clamping force and full 5-Axis access in a compact solution setup, EvoGrip is ideal for aggressive milling operations. Three basic vise widths include 70 mm, 100 mm, and 120mm, and EvoGrip offers 25kN, 50kN and an exceptionally high 75kN clamping force. Starting at the mid-size 100 mm wide vise which is capable of 50kN clamping forces, EvoGrip vises are unmatched in the industry.

“Until now, EMUGE has been known for its custom workholding solutions to clamp the most challenging applications,” said Mr. David Jones, Precision Workholding Product Manager, EMUGE-FRANKEN USA. “We are very pleased to now offer our customers the rigidity and precision they expect from EMUGE in a standard, consistent workholding system with tremendous clamping forces.”

EvoGrip Centering Vises are manually operated and engineered for precise centric clamping, creating an extreme holding force of up to 75 kN despite a slimmer design than comparable products, so pre-embossing is not necessary. The slim, modular design enables multi-sided machining and facilitates easy integration into machining setups. Interchangeable top jaws can be mounted to the base jaw for use with different workpieces and machining requirements. Highly robust and stable guideways for the base jaws are precisely machined with EMUGE’s own end mills. Also, an integrated interface for automation provides two holding bores on either side of the basic vise body for machine gripper interfacing. This affords quick robot-controlled changeovers to the next workpiece, or even a totally different workpiece altogether.

EMUGE-FRANKENWhen EvoGrip Centering Vises are combined with the EMUGE EvoPoint Zero-Point Clamping System, setup times can be reduced by up to 80% versus when having to bolt down a clamping system. The modular EvoGrip System is scalable so that vises and zero-point interfaces can be configured to fit any machine tool or job. An integrated, robust EvoPoint zero-point clamping system provides automatic alignment using geometry similar to a pull stud, enabling fast, precise and repeatable clamping in the micron range, and the referencing of devices and workpieces on machine tools, machining centers and CMM’s. Repeatable accuracy of 0.005 mm and concentricity of ±0.02 mm is achievable with the EvoPoint System. The combination of EvoGrip with EvoPoint enables fast changeovers, high positioning accuracy, and exceptional holding force.

In addition, the reliable, repeatable EMUGE EvoGrip Workholding System includes EvoBlock solutions for machine table connections and riser options ranging from base plates to one-piece spacers. For customizing a solution to accommodate workpiece height requirements, machinable VarioBlock multi-piece spacers are available.

Secure clamping and fixing of workpieces – New compact floating clamps from norelem https://industrialmachinerydigest.com/tooling-workholding/clamps-vices/secure-clamping-and-fixing-of-workpieces-new-compact-floating-clamps-from-norelem/ Fri, 09 May 2025 20:02:03 +0000 https://industrialmachinerydigest.com/?p=138170 A new, very compact model from in-house production expands norelem’s range of floating clamps for clamping and supporting components at overdetermined clamping points. The new floating clamp model from norelem is available in two versions. The standard clamping jaw can be modified or replaced, depending on the application.

The clamping jaws of floating clamps hold the workpiece securely in position by spring force, but with a certain flexibility, and support it – which is why floating clamps are used with thin-walled components that are sensitive to bending. They also prevent vibrations and deflections during machining, which makes them ideal for blanks with fins or parts with complex or irregular shapes. “Floating” fixation of the part allows the freedom of motion necessary for machining and produces precise results when working with sensitive workpieces, while minimizing clamping errors.

Designed for clamping forces up to 8000 N and ease of use

The new floating clamps from norelem are available in two versions: “Form A” has fixed clamping jaws, while “Form B” allows the option of changing the clamping jaws. Form A is designed to generate load-bearing and clamping forces up to 5000 N, Form B can achieve load-bearing and clamping forces up to 8000 N. In both versions, the base body is made of nitrocarburized steel and the end stops are made of black anodized aluminum.

The floating clamp can be closed by means of a single actuating element in order to fix the component and then block the base body in the correct position. In the first step, the floating clamp is pressed downward so that it is underneath the workpiece. In the second step, the jaws of the floating clamp swivel all the way into position. Then the lower jaw of the floating clamp should be in contact with the bottom of the workpiece. In the next step, the position of the floating clamp is fixed by tightening the hexagon nut. It is important to tighten the nut within the minimum and maximum torque. Now the workpiece is both clamped and supported.

Sturdy, versatile, and flexible

Whether for welding, milling, or planing – toggle clamps from norelem convince in terms of their high strength and stability. They operate on the basis of a thrust rod that is moved by means of a toggle joint. This motion generates the clamping force required to hold the workpiece securely. Most toggle clamps can be operated both by pushing and pulling, since they lock in closed and open position. This flexibility makes it possible to adjust the clamps for different clamping tasks.

With 10 new families (05837-10 to 05837-28) norelem is now expanding its range of toggle clamp variants with forces from 500 N to 33,350 N, thus offering the right clamping technology for every application and optimally supplementing the existing versions. The clamps are made of galvanized steel or type A2 stainless steel; the stainless steel variants are therefore non-corroding. Toggle clamps are durable and feature oil resistant plastic handles.

Large diversity of applications – user-friendly integration

The new toggle clamp variants are ideal for the fast and secure clamping and release of workpieces. In addition to mini and standard steel or stainless steel toggle clamps with clamping forces up to 3,150 N and steel variants with a clamping force up to 6,675 N, norelem also offers a pivoting version with a clamping force up to 2,000 N.
