This reading in pounds of chucking force per jaw is the holding force available for that specific jaw (rather than a total force of two or three jaws as other gauges measure). Poorly gripped parts can be dislodged by tool pressure, resulting in production losses and an unsafe operation; however, the Jaw Force Gauge allows manufacturers to cut production losses by verifying rated jaw force, identify potential safety hazards, and establish a maintenance schedule. With a force range from 0-30,000 pounds, simple-to-install and easy-to-use Dillon Jaw Force Gauges are ideal for chucks from 6” to 18” (other chucks to maximum 25,000 lbs. rated force per jaw).

With this proven product, measurements can be taken, with results compared to determine if, for example, the chuck does not meet manufacturers established jaw force ratings because they require lubrication, or a drawbar/drawtube adjustment. It also helps to identify if internal chuck parts are worn or broken or if chuck jaws are not obtaining full travel and may need disassembly and cleaning. These gauges also help users determine if an air or hydraulic actuator requires adjustment to correct leakage or bypass, or if line pressure needs adjustment for proper part chucking. Ideal for use with chucks from a wide variety of manufacturers, Dillon Jaw Force Gauges keep chucks operating at full force for maximum production, and service life. Each Jaw Force Gauge sold by Dillon includes detailed instructions for proper set up and use.

Dillon Fast-Trac Jaw Nuts Slash Jaw Change Time While Enhancing Safety https://industrialmachinerydigest.com/tooling-workholding/chucks-chuck-jaws/dillon-fast-trac-jaw-nuts-slash-jaw-change-time-while-enhancing-safety/ Tue, 02 Sep 2025 19:23:52 +0000 https://industrialmachinerydigest.com/?p=139469 Fast-Trac Jaw Nuts from Dillon Manufacturing allow user to preassemble the jaws required for the next operation while the machine is running the current job, cutting jaw change time in half. Because they are manufactured from certified 4140 heat treated steel, Dillon Jaw Nuts and Keys provide superior wear and impact resistance, higher tensile strength, extended life, and safety, whereas jaws made from case hardened 1018 steel can fracture, crack, and break under high-speed machine stress loads, damaging workpieces and chucks, and endangering operators. Dillon Jaw Nuts, T-nuts, and Keys are available to fit all popular power chucks from 6” in diameter to 24” in diameter including Forkhardt, Gamet, Howa, Kitigawa, Matsumoto (MMK), Nikko, Pratt Burnerd, Rohm, Samchully, Schuck, SMW, SMW-Autoblok, and more. Standard sizes are stocked for immediate shipment. They are ideal for workholding applications requiring durability and high strength such as high-speed machining, or wherever faster, safer jaw changes are desired.

Preassembling jaws while the current project is running is a proven system that maximizes productivity and profitability by minimizing jaw change time. In addition to saving on labor costs, quick change capability allows more components to be machined per shift. Better utilization of machine time bolsters efficiency while it increases the productivity per square foot of manufacturing space and generates more profit.

In addition to a wide range of standard Jaw Nuts and Keys, Dillon also offers special T-Nut designs and manufacturing service for custom workhlolding requirements.

Changing Your Chuck Should be Fun https://industrialmachinerydigest.com/tooling-workholding/chucks-chuck-jaws/changing-your-chuck-should-be-fun/ Fri, 09 May 2025 20:45:35 +0000 https://industrialmachinerydigest.com/?p=138174 When was the last time you looked forward to changing your chuck? It may sound tedious, but what if we said it could be enjoyable? Your changeover process can transform from a necessary chore into a surprisingly fun experience you anticipate.

There’s something inherently satisfying about a process that works smoothly. Quick change-over systems, like centroteX, offer capabilities that eliminate the frustration of switching entire workholding devices. When a task that once took valuable time now happens quickly and effortlessly, it changes your perspective on the process.

Perfect Results

One of the most rewarding aspects of machining is achieving perfect results. Our clamping systemsdeliver high rigidity and precise concentricity, allowing you to see parts machined to any specification. The vibration-dampening effect ensures smooth operation, allowing higher metal removal rates without sacrificing quality.

Tackle multiple projects with full through-bore or top-face run-on part options. The ability to fit most machines with adaptable threading options means your workholding never limits you. This versatility encourages experimentation and creativity in your machining approach. When changing your chuck becomes easy, you’re more likely to optimize your setup for each job rather than compromising to avoid the hassle of switching.

Peace of Mind

Nothing spoils the fun of machining quite like maintenance issues and downtime. Quick-change chuck TOPlus is sealed against contamination, offering less maintenance and increased process reliability. Their optimal lubrication system, featuring lubricating grooves in the chuck body, ensures smooth operation even during demanding applications. This reliability means you can focus on enjoyable aspects of machining without worrying about your workholding system letting you down.

The Thrill of The Final Parts

The best aspect of using quick-change clamping systems is seeing the improvement in your final parts. With features designed for hard machining and higher output rates, you’ll notice the difference in productivity and quality. Lower piece costs and increased process reliability translate to better business outcomes, which is certainly something to smile about.

So the next time you need to change your chuck, consider switching to HAINBUCH. You might find yourself changing chucks just for the fun of it.
